All Things Waste-Free Cooking with Rachel Potter

Rachel Potter is a trained chef and educator, who is passionate about keeping food free from artificial preservatives and additives. She was always destined to grow and cook her own food. Raised by her grandmother who grew much of the family's food with a waste-not-want-not ethos (out of necessity - not because it was trendy), she learned early on the true value of freshly harvested produce and its connection to sustainability and reverence for the earth.

Since becoming a chef and having Brent Savage as her mentor at Hatted restaurant Yellow, she has used her former career in education to teach waste-free culinary education for local councils, schools and private industry. She was part of the Burke’s Backyard team as a produce gardener and chef and has been privileged to cook lunch for Maggie Beer with produce from her own vegetable garden in Killara.

Rachel is the Education Officer at North Shore Bee Keepers Association and is passionate about educating the next generation around sustainability and accountability.

She is also an accomplished artist. Rachel's Seasonal Eating Mural can be viewed at the front of Beaumont Road Public School in Killara.

Rachel will be presenting all her chef's tips and tricks at our September meeting, to help everyone eliminate food waste in their homes. All attendees on the night will receive an A4 copy of Rachel's Seasonal Eating poster. She illustrated this poster for a Zero-Waste Lunch that she curated along with Ronnie Kahn from OzHarvest and chef Mike McEnearney for Sydney Good Food Month last year.

Free for members, small donation for guests.

Doors open at 6:30pm - a good time to check out our members' library & catch up with other PSN members.

Please join us for supper after the talk.
