Keeping animals in the backyard benefits you and your soil. They provide good quality food (eggs and meat), supply manures to fertilise soil, can be employed to clean garden beds or noxious weeds and are fun to watch and be around!

Learn about the basics of small-scale animal husbandry in an urban setting. We will talk about poultry (quails, chickens and ducks), small furry animals (guinea pigs, rabbits and goats) and a bit about bees, too. You will hear about animals’ needs, maintenance and the cost of keeping them.

And on the day you will see chickens and rabbits in action!
