Coiled Basket Weaving

Saturday March 19, 10am - 4.00pm

Mt Colah

This is a workshop only for those members who have not yet been able to take part in one of the previous workshops run by Sally.    There will be another basket weaving workshop in September open to all.

Join us for an exciting day as Sally Blackwell teaches us how to weave baskets using natural fibres found in your garden.

"I am a firm believer that everything has an inherent value and should not be wasted. I have been experimenting with natural fibres, grasses, vines, recycled materials and other materials found in my local environment to turn what might have been wasted into something that is useful and pleasing to the eye, hence my logo - waste not fibre. Each piece is unique, drawing from whatever comes to hand that sparks my imagination."
– Sally Blackwell

You will never look at a garden in quite the same way after learning how to use its abundance to create a unique basket. Learn how to coil (stitch) a beautiful basket with fibres from the garden using a variety of techniques and stitches. All materials will be provided.

The workshop is suitable for beginners, no previous basketry experience is required,  Slow down and take a breath, relax and create.  Added bonus you will take home your own beautifully created basket, as well as the knowledge of how to harvest and prepare fibres from your garden (or someone else's!) to create more baskets.  You can see Sallys work on her website.

All materials will be provided by Sally but if you have something that you particularly want to use from your garden, please bring it along and we will experiment with it.

This is an all day workshop so bring lunch for yourself and a snack for afternoon tea to share with the group

All attendees must be double vaccinated.
