SOURDOUGH BREAD MAKING

Saturday 4th June  -  9am - 1pm

Middle Cove

Join the Living Skills Team in a morning of learning about and making SOURDOUGH Bread.  Ann Pearson, a sourdough maker extraordinaire, will be running the workshop. Above is a sample of her bread making (before and after pictures). This a great opportunity to learn from a professional.

  1. What’s included in the workshop
  • Your workshop covers looking after your starter, selecting ingredients, practice making dough, stretch and fold, fermentation, adjusting for weather and taste, shaping a boule (round loaf) and batard (long loaf), scoring and baking.  We’ll also discuss adapting equipment you already have in your home kitchen, fitting sourdough baking around your schedule, trouble shooting and Q&A.
  • Ingredients and light refreshments will be supplied.  Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements or food allergies.
  • You will take home a loaf of bread to bake at home; and a DIY kit including 100g starter, detailed recipe with tips and hints, and links to my top three favourite sourdough recipe websites and resources.
  • After the workshop, you can ask for support if you need it.  This includes a starter replacement guarantee (if you forget to feed it or go on holiday) and online support through Ann's Facebook page Amazing Sourdough for baking tips, recipes and other sourdough stuff!

  • What to bring
  • Bring a large mixing bowl to take your dough home in (25cm or bigger is ideal).  Salad bowls or saucepans are fine too if you’re short of mixing bowls.  Glass is best so you can watch the dough rise, but anything works as long as it is made from a non-reactive material (glass, stainless steel, ceramic, food grade plastic are all good, but not copper or aluminium).
  • Wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit of flour on and flat shoes.  It’s best not to apply hand creams or nail polish that morning.  You should take off any rings while working the dough.

All attendees must be double vaccinated
