Organic Matter (OM)  has many functions in the soil, some of the most important of which are to enable improved soil aggregation and pore stucture, to store water and carbon, to provide nutrients and moisture, to regulate soil temperature and to buffer pH towards neutral - all to allow the life in the soil and plants to operate as they should.

This event will consist of the construction of a small hugelkultur bed, a tour of various composts, a discussion of ways to aid the break down of OM for the benefit of plants and soil life, and perhaps  a worm farm rehab!.

This is a free event for PSN members who are at least double vaccinated against Covid. Wearing masks is optional. Hand sanitiser will be available. Please do not come if you are feeling unwell.
