Monthly gathering: Building a tiny home on wheels
7pm Monday 15th September
Lindfield Seniors Hall

With housing becoming increasingly unaffordable for many of us, and with those who can afford them building McMansions with little room for gardens, it's refreshing to see another trend growing – tiny houses.

This month we'll hear from Robert Mueller, a 22-year-old who grew up in Greenwich, Sydney. Robert began gardening at a young age and developed a passion for sustainability. His latest project has been the design and construction of a tiny home on wheels with a focus on sustainability. Alongside his studies in civil engineering and environmental science, he’s spent the past few years designing and modelling his tiny home, now finally using this past year to construct it – he’s almost finished.

Robert will share how he’s incorporated permaculture principles to reduce the project’s ecological impacts, while maximising the home’s liveability. Compressed straw panels, cork flooring and insulation, a recyclable steel frame, the sustainable use of timber, and the minimisation of non-recyclable plastics are all features of the build which aim to reduce its impacts. Robert will share the merits and disadvantages his design choices, and how they relate to permaculture.

This event is free for members and guests. Please register so we know how many to expect.

Doors open at 6.30pm. Come early to browse the library or find a treasure on the Reuse and Recycle table.

Join us after our speaker for tea, coffee and supper, which will be provided and served by the Ku-ring-gai group.
