Living Skills Workshop: Goats Milk Soap

2–4pm, Saturday 23rd May

North Wahroonga

Here's a wonderful opportunity to join the Living Skills Team and learn how to make all-natural handmade soap with no chemicals or preservatives.

Goats milk soap is naturally high in saturated and unsaturated fat and creates a soap that is creamy, gentle, and nourishing. We'll be using a base of olive and coconut oils and include lye and other ingredients, with goat milk for a beautiful, smooth, luxurious texture. You'll learn the technique of mixing herb infusions in your soap and adding different oils that you might have available in your house.

We'll also make shampoo bars which are plastic package free. They help to reduce the industry’s problem with over-packaging so they are much better for the environment. The bars are more concentrated than traditional liquid shampoos, so you can use less per application and they'll last longer.

There is a curing time of 4-6 weeks before the soap you make is ready for use. You'll take home a sample of the soap and the shampoo bar and notes to remind you of the quantities you have used.

As we will work with strong lye and hot oil, for safety reasons the workshop is limited to 10 participants. Please do not bring children to the workshop.

Cost: $10 (members only). Any registrations not paid 2 weeks before the event will be automatically cancelled.

Address supplied on registration – the regular 575 bus from Hornsby or Wahroonga will drop you within 150m. There is also a bus from Turramurra station.
