Monthly Gathering: Preparing for a strong El Nino summer

Images and stories from the heat waves, fires and droughts experienced by Europe over their summer were a pretty frightening taster of a future with a warming climate. It's prompted many of us to think about our own summer with concern. And now scientists are predicting that we are heading towards the strongest El Nino conditions ever recorded – a "super El Nino."

But what does any of this really mean for us here in Sydney? 

At this month's gathering, we'll take a closer look at what the scientists are predicting and then do what every good permie should do – apply permaculture principles and make some plans!

We'll start with a short presentation about El Nino and then break into groups to discuss ideas about how to prepare our gardens, homes, and communities for a potentially very long, hot and dry summer.

Doors open at 6.30pm. Come early to help set up, browse the library or find a treasure on the Reuse and Recycle table.

Stick around for a cuppa and a chat after the main event. Supper will be provided by the Ku-ring-gai group this month.
